Spillage Control

Aigües de Catalunya is committed to the environment. For this our philosophy and action plan aim to protect the environment and detect the source of contamination to prevent possible damage caused by dangerous spills (in compliance with the Executive Water Plan (DMA) 2000/60/CE)

The PCV, via analytical control carries out inspections of the installations and collaboration with the administrators of each different step, and monitor the records, be that the Record for the Adaptation of Spillages, Authorization, Sanctions etc.:

To achieve these objectives the following series of tools is fundamental:

  • An expert team of workers trained in industrial processes, purification treatments and collection of samples.
  • An information system which allows us to manage information from industries, focus group points and analysis of results, as well as visualizing said information of thematic maps, accessible from the field.
  • Automatic equipment for sample collection, measuring criteria in situ, flow measurement and the latest monitoring technology for the quality of residual water in the network of collectors, with a GPRS alarm system which sends alerts in the case of anomalies.

Spillage control is integrated with the network management system and the client management service, two areas in which Aigües de Catalunya is a reference This tool allows us to define in each inventoried industry, the activity, the sector which it belongs to, number and location of its network connection points, focus group stations which collect its spills, profiles to analyze, contaminating load, consumption study etc…

It is a useful tool for monitoring spill requests in the municipal sewage system and open sanctioning systems for respective local administration systems.

This system allows for the detection of dangerous spills in different points in the network of connectors, of a particular user, localizing certain spills which may damage the correct functioning of the sanitary installation before it creates problems in the purification process.

Similarly, it possesses functionalities which render it apt not only for control management once the points or stations are established, the criteria to be controlled in each of the stations and the frequency of sampling, but it also contributes to the elaboration of a spillage control plan in each station in terms of the activities that will take place and said criteria should be shown periodically.
